Junior Bookkeeper at Gone Rural

Background:

Gone Rural works with 12 artisan groups to produce high quality basketry and tableware, which is exported and sold worldwide. Our mission is to reduce economic poverty and increase social status of over 700 artisans, by designing and selling high-end homewares for the global market.

boMake Rural Projects is our sister organization, who implements social projects in the 12 communities where our artisans live.

Position: Junior Bookeeper

The accounts department plays a key role in providing financial information and services to the rest of the Gone Rural and boMake teams.  The rest of the organisation cannot perform their functions properly if they do not receive full co-operation and current financial information from the accounts department.   A high standard of co-operation with all staff and management is therefore an essential requirement of this position.

The incumbent is required to liaise on a daily basis with management, peers and subordinates across the teams and as such a high level of interpersonal communication skills is required.

The incumbent is responsible for the bookkeeping that services and/or support the following companies:

  • Gone Rural (Pty) Ltd

  • boMake Rural Projects (NGO)

Reporting To: Managing Director & Management Accountant

Place of Work: Gone Rural workshop in Malkerns. With occasional visits to rural groups and our retail shop at Ngwenya.

  • Acts positively on feedback.

Requirements:

  • Proven relevant education.

  • 2 years relevant work experience.

  • Good knowledge of the pastel accounting package.

  • Fluent in siSwati and English, both oral and written.

  • 2 or more references

  10. ASSETS ADMINISTRATION

  11. WITHOLDING TAX ADMINISTRATION

  12. STOCK RESPONSIBILITIES
